How our facility is keeping you safe from COVID-19

We are committed to keeping you safe and are taking the following steps to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in customers and staff

We are providing extra training for staff and education for patrons about the importance of hand hygiene, facemasks, respiratory hygiene, and cough etiquette.

Tissues, alcohol based hand sanitizer, and garbage cans will be provided in the corridors and in the program areas. Soap and water will continue to be available at all handwashing sinks and in the washrooms and showers. Patrons are asked to use hand sanitizer upon entering the centre. Staff is also expected to use a hand sanitizer or wash their hands regularly and upon reporting to work.

Pre-screening for COVID-19: All patrons are screened for COVID-19 symptoms when they register or pre-book for a program and upon entry to the building.

We are limiting staff and visitors from coming into the facility.

We are limiting non-essential staff entry into the facility. We are restricting visitor access to only those who are essential. Visitors will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to entry.

Pre-shift employee wellness check:  We are monitoring all staff for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to each shift. We are instructing staff who have symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches, tiredness) to stay home and not to come to work.

Physical Distancing: Seating in the corridors and program spaces have been arranged to encourage physical distancing of six feet between patrons; please observe posted signs. Seating will not be available in the main foyer.

Protective Screens: Plexiglass protective screens have been installed at the customer service desk to protect patrons and staff.

We are continuing our routine cleaning and disinfection procedures as these procedures are recommended for protecting you from COVID-19: In each program space and corridors, more frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high touch areas have been scheduled, including tables, doorknobs, countertops, patron touch screens, and elevator buttons. We will ensure enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of the facility and program spaces and will provide hourly touch point cleaning in program spaces with daily deep cleaning and disinfecting.

We are training staff about proper use of personal protective equipment for COVID-19

You may see a change in the personal protective equipment (i.e. masks, face shields, gloves) that staff are asked to wear in different program spaces. All staff will be wearing a face covering. Cloth face coverings are meant to stop the staff from spreading respiratory droplets and remind people not to touch their faces.

Modified programs and activities: We are currently offering modified programs and activities to ensure physical distancing is achieved and on guidance from the provincial government regulations.

Reduced numbers in program spaces: We have reduced the numbers in each program space to allow for physical distancing and on guidance from the provincial government.

Pre-book use of a program space: We are only accepting patrons into program spaces if they have pre-booked or registered for a program. This will help us with contact tracing if an outbreak occurs.

Reduced costs to use space due to reduced services: We have reduced the cost for all drop-in programs and memberships on a temporary basis due to reduced services.

We are encouraging patrons and staff to share all questions and concerns related to COVID-19.

Don’t be afraid to use your voice. It is okay to ask staff questions about the implemented changes and ways to protect yourself and your family.

We are staying up-to-date with the latest information from Simcoe Muskoka Public Health unit.
